Franklin Wake Soccer Club

Program overview

  • FWSC is proud to partner with Soccer Genome to provide professionalized player development sessions to our club members.

  • The purpose of our player development program is to provide our youth members with access to elite level training with full time dedicated soccer coaches who specialize in helping young players develop their soccer skills and find lifelong joy through soccer.

  • Soccer Genome is a Raleigh based 3rd party coaching firm, specializing in elite level soccer training and coaching in the greater Raleigh area since 2011.

  • Our desire as a Club is that our player development program will help young players accelerate their development under qualified coaches, so that each and every player has the opportunity to improve their individual ball skills (technical development), application of these skills in a game environment (tactical development), increase soccer specific physical development, and psychological resilience.

Soccer Genome training philosophy and methodology:

  • At Soccer Genome, our training philosophy is centered on creating an environment that directly corresponds with a real game of soccer. Because soccer is first and foremost a game to be played and enjoyed, we are committed to ensuring that our training environments mimic these two key foundational qualities. We are convinced that the quickest pathway for players to improve and develop in the game of soccer is to harness play and enjoyment through high volume, high intensity training sessions that provide our players with maxim repetition of fun training activities that correlate back to the real game. Soccer is fun. Our goal is to keep it that way.

Soccer Genome Training Methodology:

  • The Soccer Genome training methodology is built on a “problem - solution” model of training. The “problem - solution” model of training focuses on presenting a game specific problem to the players, and having the players find solutions to that problem. This type of methodology emphasizes the importance of individual autonomy and cooperative problem solving as the key to every player's development. Our goal for every training session is to practice the maximum number of these problem solving scenarios, which players will encounter in every game, so that they are equipped to handle every situation that the game throws at them.

What to expect:

  • The player development program is structured into one hour training sessions, offered weekly at the FWSC soccer fields during the Fall and Spring seasons.

  • Players can register to participate on a weekly or monthly basis.

  • The Soccer Genome led technical sessions will be fast based, one hour training sessions working on the following foundational soccer skills:

    • Individual ball control and ball mastery.

    • Individual attacking and defending principles of play.

    • Soccer specific conditioning and athletic development.

    • 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 foundations and principles.

    • Decision making.

    • Game specific player actions.
